outliers

A value that "lies outside" (is much smaller or larger than) most of the other values in a set of data.

range

The difference between the lowest and highest values.

In {4, 6, 9, 3, 7} the lowest value is 3, and the highest is 9, so the range is 9-3 = 6.

mode

The mode is the number that is repeated more often than any other

median

The median is the middle value, so I'll have to rewrite the list in order:
      13, 13, 13, 13, 14, 14, 16, 18, 21
    There are nine numbers in the list, so the middle one will be the (9 + 1) ÷ 2 = 10 ÷ 2 = 5th number:
      13, 13, 13, 13, 14, 14, 16, 18, 21
    So the median is 14

mean

    The mean is the usual average, so: (13 + 18 + 13 + 14 + 13 + 16 + 14 + 21 + 13) ÷ 9 = 15

numerical coefficient

numerical coefficient-a number that multiply the variable
e.g. 2t
2 = numerical coefficient
t= variable

constant

constant- a number that does not change and it increases or decreases the value of an expression

value

value -a known or calculated amount

variables

variable- a letter that represent an unknown number
e.g.
5,n,8t,x + 1, 2y - 7

how to add mixed fractions with unlike denominator

1 4/5 + 1 2/3

1 find the lowest common multiple 5,10,15 3,6,9,12,15
2 multiply 4x3=12 2x5=10
3 add the whole numbers 1+1=2
4 combine 12/15+ 10/15= 22/15=1 7/15
1+1+1=3
3 7/15

adding and subtracting unlike denominators

we must find a common denominator a common multiple of the denominators of a set of fractions

common factors

common factor

a number that has two or more numbers that its divisible by
common factors of 12 and 16

factors of 12
1x12 the common factors of 12 and 16 is 1,2,4
2x6
3x4 16 is 8 and 16
both IS 1,2 and 4
factors of 16 12 is 6,3 and 12
1x16
2x8
4x4

divisibility rule for 2

divisibility rule for 2

all even numbers are divisible by 2
even numbers end in 0,2,4,6,8

adding and subtracting like denominators

add the numerator then keep the same number of the numerator
for example
6/12+2/12=8/12

math

what is a denominator?

A denominator is the bottom number of a fraction.
3/4
5/7

7 and 4 are a denominator
